Price alerts

Get notified the moment a competitor changes pricing

Alerts let you know when a competitor's price moves enough to matter. They run automatically after every price check and go to whichever channels you've turned on.

Setting up alerts

Open Alerts in the sidebar, then click Alert settings. You can set two kinds of rules:

Global rules

Apply to every product you track. Examples:

  • Notify me whenever any competitor drops a price by more than 10%.
  • Notify me whenever any competitor raises a price by more than 5%.

Per-product rules

Apply only to a specific product you care about. Useful for hero SKUs where smaller movements still matter. Under Product-Specific Rules, click Add Rule, type the product's name, pick the competitor, and set the threshold.

Notification channels

You can turn on any combination of these on the Alert settings page, then click Save Alert Settings.

  • Email: turn it on and enter the address to send alerts to.
  • Slack: paste an incoming webhook URL. Messages are formatted as Slack Block Kit cards.
  • Discord: paste a Discord webhook URL.
  • Pushover: enter your Pushover user key and application token for instant mobile push.
  • Generic webhook: paste any HTTP endpoint. We POST a JSON payload with the alert details for you to forward into your own systems.

Once a channel is saved, a Test button next to it sends a sample alert so you can check it arrives.

If a channel fails to deliver (e.g. an expired webhook), we log it but don't block the alert from posting to your other channels.

Didn't get an alert?

  • Check your spam folder. Alerts are emailed from noreply@vantagedash.io. Add that address to your contacts so future alerts land in your inbox.
  • Send a test. On Alert settings, click Test next to the channel.
  • Check where alerts go. The top of the Alerts page says which email address and channels alerts are sent to.
  • Check the thresholds. A 3% price drop won't trigger a 5% rule.
  • Remember alerts follow price checks. An alert can only fire after a price check has run, so make sure your schedule runs often enough.

The notification bell

The bell icon in the dashboard header shows your most recent alerts with an unread badge. Click an alert to jump to the matching product's comparison card. Click Mark all as read to clear the badge.

Alert history

The Alerts page lists your 50 most recent alerts, newest first, with the old and new price of each. It's the record to check if you ever need to confirm that a price change happened.

Tuning the noise

If you're getting too many alerts:

  • Raise the global threshold (e.g. 5% → 15%).
  • Disable alerts on competitors you don't care about (remove them, or set per-product rules only).
  • Disable email and keep one push channel for the urgent stuff.

If you're not getting enough:

  • Lower the threshold.
  • Add per-product rules for hero SKUs at a tighter threshold.
  • Make sure your scrape schedule is running often enough, since alerts only fire after a scrape.
