Ask Claude about your competitors' prices: connecting, what to ask, what it cannot do, and disconnecting

VantageDash can answer questions about your competitors' prices inside Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant. Claude reads your own VantageDash workspace and changes nothing in it.

What you need

  • A VantageDash account with at least one competitor and some approved matches. Claude answers from what VantageDash has already found: it does not visit any website itself. If you are new, start with Getting started.
  • Claude on the web, on the desktop or on your phone. Claude Code, the tool for programmers, cannot connect to VantageDash yet.

Connecting

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and search for VantageDash.
  2. Click Connect. A VantageDash page opens. Sign in as you do on our website, with your second step if you set one up.
  3. The page names the workspace Claude will read, lists what Claude will be able to read and what it cannot do, and says you go back to claude.ai. Click Allow.

Claude can also ask you to connect the first time you ask it something that needs your workspace: click Connect in the conversation and follow the same steps.

Claude reads the workspace you have open in VantageDash. If you belong to more than one, open the one you want before you connect.

What you can ask

Ask in your own words. For example:

  • "Which of my products is a competitor selling for less?"
  • "Where is BeanCo cheaper than me?" (use the name a competitor has in VantageDash)
  • "What prices dropped at my competitors this week?"
  • "How does my House Blend 12 oz compare?" (use one of your product names)
  • "Did my price checks work last night?"

Claude compares prices the way the Comparison page does:

  • Approved matches only. A suggested match counts once you approve it on the Comparison page. Claude says how many suggestions are waiting.
  • On the same footing. When the two pack sizes differ, both prices are per item. A competitor that sells in another currency is converted into your workspace's currency. If you set whether prices include VAT, for you and for that competitor, their price is put on your basis.
  • The prices from your last price check. Ask whether your price checks worked to see when each competitor was last checked.

What Claude cannot do

  • Change anything in your workspace: no prices, matches, competitors or settings.
  • Start a price check or a matching run. Start those in VantageDash.
  • See your billing, your team or your store connection.

Disconnecting

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose VantageDash and disconnect it. From then on Claude can no longer ask. To have us end the connection from our side as well, write to support@vantagedash.io.

Troubleshooting

  • Claude asks you to connect again. Your sign-in ended, or VantageDash was disconnected. Click Connect and Allow again.
  • "This account has no VantageDash workspace." You signed in with an account that has no workspace. Disconnect, then connect again with the login you use for VantageDash.
  • "There are no approved matches yet." Approve suggested matches on the Comparison page, or run matching first (Product matching).
  • "Too many questions in a minute." Each person can ask 60 questions a minute. Wait a moment and ask again.
  • A competitor's prices look old. Ask whether your price checks worked. If a competitor's last check did not work, see Troubleshooting.

Privacy

Claude receives only the answers to the questions you ask: product names and prices, your competitors' names and web addresses, recent price changes and when your price checks ran. We receive only what a question needs, never your conversation. The details are in our privacy policy, under "If You Connect VantageDash to ChatGPT or Claude".
